Apparently we ate far, FAR too much during the Holidays because we haven't had the occasion to post about our progression work in almost a month! Let's fix that:
As always, we've kept ourselves busy even though things have been quiet on the progression front. We've continued our weekly Dragon Soul clears while juggling the beginning of the school year, some winter doldums and occasional trips to Heroic Firelands to work towards our second legendary staff. We've also tackled bosses out of the traditional order (in true Vortex fashion!) and now we can show off some of the results of that work!
Heroic Zon'ozz is a great example of some excellent tuning of the part of Blizzard with regards to the Dragon Soul heroics. He/she/it is a complete pushover on regular - there's a fair amount of AoE damage during the black phases, but that's basically it. On heroic, however, the fight is taken to another level: massive healing and DPS requirements on top of tightly coordinated group movement and coordination. The nature of the fight also lends itself to the hectic conclusion as the stacking damage bonus means that the boss is losing nearly 1% health per second just before the berserk timer. All in all, it's a fun, well-tuned encounter and a great rush when you get it down.
